A physician, scientist, and academic teacher, specialist in internal medicine and endocrinology, and professor of medical sciences.
First Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and subsequently of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University. From March 1, 2023, Vice-Rector for Medical Affairs, and from January 10, 2024, after the establishment of the Medical College, he served as Vice-Rector for Medical College, coordinating and overseeing scientific and teaching activities in medical fields as well as the university’s cooperation with hospitals, the socio-economic environment, and scientific institutions in the field of medicine. Previously, he was a long-time researcher, lecturer, and clinician at the Department and Clinic of Endocrinology at the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow.
His main research areas include pituitary and thyroid diseases, as well as issues related to iodine deficiency.
He is a member of numerous leading scientific societies, both international and national, including: The Endocrine Society, the European Society of Endocrinology, the European Thyroid Association, the Growth Hormone Research Society, the European Neuroendocrine Association, the Polish Endocrine Society, the Polish Thyroid Society, and the Polish Bioethics Society. He has been an active member of the Polish Commission for the Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders for many years, whose responsibilities include substantive oversight and participation in shaping multidisciplinary activities regarding iodine prophylaxis in Poland.
He is the editor-in-chief of the UAFM journal Medicine and Public Health. First Deputy Rector of the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University. From 2012 to 2015, he chaired the university’s Bioethics Committee.
